Lake Lure, NC

Chimney Rock State Park

Chimney Rock

There are several trails here and we were hoping to do a couple of them.  However, when we got to the park, the electricity was out so we got to climb the 500 steps to the top.  We opted for the easy walk out to the rock and walked along some of the paths for a bit and then did the hike to Hickory Nut Falls.  There is an entry fee to the park.

Hickory Nut Falls

This is about a 1.4 mile hike in the park and on the easier side of moderate. The waterfall is one of the tallest in our area at 404 feet.  It was featured on "Last of the Mohicans" and you can wade right up to the base.
